Tea is essential nourishment to every Russian-American artist, so whenever I am near Madison Square at lunchtime, I make a beeline for the Gryphon Tea Room, conveniently snuggled into a corner of the old Scottish Rite Masonic Temple. Happily, Savannah’s tradition of Southern hospitality lives on inside this tearoom. In my estimation, the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple, built in 1913, is Savannah’s most beautiful building.
